The Part of the Mushroom Most People Never See

Dec 10, 2025

Most people know mushrooms for their caps—the part that shows above the ground. But the real magic happens below the surface.

Mycelium is the unseen network that nourishes the entire organism. It gathers nutrients, builds strength, and supports the forest around it. And unlike the mushroom’s cap, which appears for a moment and disappears, mycelium is always working quietly in the background.

When we discovered this hidden world, it felt symbolic. Mycelium represents everything we believe food should be: humble, grounding, and quietly nourishing.

People rarely see it.
But it’s the reason mushrooms grow at all.

And now, it’s the reason we make the cookie we make.
